So I've decided to start making money doing what I'm good at -- fixing and building computers (let the geek/nerd jokes begin).
In the past, I've done work on peoples computers for no cost, or for a minimum price required to purchase new parts. I will now begin charging very small premiums and labor fees -- but it's still nearly 10x cheaper than Geek Squad or similar services.
Listed below are the services I'll provide initially. More will come soon, and any unlisted service can be requested and appraised.
Complete Build:
This means I'll build you an entire computer, and you'll be charged for the parts you choose
Microsoft Windows XP (all editions) -- $20.00 + Parts*
Microsoft Windows Vista (all editions) -- $40.00 + Parts*
Ubuntu Linux -- Parts Only**
Fedora Core Linux -- $5.00 + Parts
Other (Non-Linux) -- $10.00 + Parts
* No Windows Fee if your own disc is provided
** A free Ubuntu Install Disc will be provided
OS Reinstall:
Just need a fresh install of the OS? This is what I'll charge.
Microsoft Windows XP (all editions) -- $15.00 + License Fee***
Microsoft Windows Vista (all editions) -- $25.00 + License Fee***
Linux (all distros) -- $5.00
*** No License Fee charged if your own disc is used.
Virus/Spyware Cleaning:
Got a nasty worm? I'll fix it cheap.
Virus Removal -- $2.50/virus, $75.00 Maximum
Spyware Removal -- $0.50/instance, $75.00 Maximum
Virus/Spyware Combo -- $125.00 Flat Fee*
* Must be requested upon making original service call.
Note: If it is determined that the virus/spyware is unfixable, and a reinstall is required, you will not be charged for the Virus/Spyware removal, and will only be billed for an OS reinstall.
Misc. Services

Hardware Upgrade -- $2.50/hour + Parts
Software Upgrade (non-OS) -- $2.50/hour + License Fees
Vista Upgrade Assessment -- $10.00
Linux Compatability Assessment -- $10.00
